ASA 2013 conference programme announced -

The Association of Subscription Agents and Intermediaries has announced its programme for the upcoming annual ASA Conference, to be held in London on February 25-26, 2013. The conference, dubbed 'The 3 Rs: Reach, Readership and Revenues', will cover the publishing value chain from researchers to readers, and features presenters who are continuing to innovate and prevail in a constantly evolving academic publishing world.

The programme is organised around four sessions covering the main stages of the supply of content from authors to readers: Authoring & Publishing, Buying & Selling Content, Discovery & Metadata, and Content Usage & Quality. Also scheduled for the conference is a panel discussion involving leading figures from the academic content world which will debate both traditional and open access business models, trying to answer the question, "Who pays: government, philanthropists, funders, authors, institutions, libraries or readers?"

Amongst the notable speakers and panellists confirmed for the event are Philip Ditchfield (Glaxo Smith-Kline), Debbie Dore (Swets), Lorraine Estelle (JISC), Fiona Godlee (British Medical Journal), Robert Kiley (Wellcome Trust), Herman Pabbruwe (Brill), Ed Pentz (CrossRef), Janet Peters (Cardiff University) and Kathryn Spiller (BioScientifica).

The ASA conferences underscore ASA members' credo: maintaining the highest standards of business practice, providing excellence in service and support, facilitating transfer of knowledge to a growing global audience, and helping sustain the knowledge economy. Covering the hottest topics from publishing, intermediary, library, consortia, and emerging technologies, the conference is set to continue its unique and respected tradition of debating and shaping the future of our industry.
