The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) has launched Anesthesiology Open, a new peer-reviewed, open access journal published by Wolters Kluwer. The journal will serve as a companion to ASA’s flagship publication Anesthesiology and expand opportunities for scholarly communication in the field.
Led by executive editor Yandong Jiang of McGovern Medical School, the journal will publish a wide range of article types, including original investigations, reviews, research letters, and editorials. A new feature, Innovation in Practice, will showcase novel solutions in anesthesia, perioperative care, critical care, and pain management. The journal will also provide a home for select ASA statements and consensus documents.
The launch is intended to broaden global access to research in anesthesiology and related specialties, while supporting scientific exchange and professional development.
Founded in 1905, ASA represents more than 59,000 members and promotes the advancement of anesthesiology through education, research, and advocacy.
