The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has announced the publication of seven articles in its new Journal of Global Oncology (JGO). The first articles for this online-only, open-access journal are now available at www.jgo.org.
The Journal of Global Oncology was founded to address cancer care, research, and care delivery issues unique to countries and settings with limited healthcare resources. It is estimated that nearly two-thirds of all cancer deaths today occur in low- and middle-income countries, and this is forecast to increase to 70 percent by 2030. While some journals publish special issues and sections focused on global oncology, JGO is the first peer-reviewed journal dedicated solely to this area of research.
The Journal of Global Oncology is funded through the Conquer Cancer Foundation of the American Society of Clinical Oncology with the support of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Novartis Oncology. Expanded reach of the journal is made possible through collaboration between ASCO and the Union for International Cancer Control.
