ASCP releases 'Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual for Assisted Living' -

The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) has released the ASCP Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual for Assisted Living. The announcement was made during the Opening General Session at Geriatrics '08, ASCP's 30th midyear conference and exhibition.

The new manual is projected as a clear and concise guide on all aspects of pharmacy services that are essential to ensuring quality of care. The product includes a fully searchable CD with modifiable policies and procedures to meet the specific needs of individual assisted living communities and state laws and regulations.

The manual delineates functions and responsibilities of individuals involved with the medication use process including: medication ordering, receipt and delivery; medication administration; and medication packaging, storage and disposal. It is designed to help pharmacists and assisted living staff safely and effectively meet the medication management challenges and varying needs of assisted living residents; from those who manage their own medications but need some assistance with administration, to those who are completely dependent on staff to provide, manage and administer medications.

The ASCP manual may be ordered from MED-PASS. Customisation, fulfillment services and volume discounts are available.
