ASM has appointed Dr. George O’Toole and Dr. Gemma Reguera as new Editors-in-Chief (EiCs) for Journal of Bacteriology (JB) and Applied and Environmental Microbiology (AEM), respectively. Dr. O’Toole and Dr. Reguera will begin terms as Editors-in-Chief on July 1, 2021.
Dr. O’Toole is currently a professor of microbiology and immunology at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. Dr. O'Toole joined the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 1999. The O’Toole lab studies the surface-attached microbial communities known as biofilms and how they form on both living and non-living surfaces. He published his first paper in JB.
Dr. Reguera is currently a professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at Michigan State University. Her research focuses on microbial adaptive responses to the environment, broadly described, and their biotechnological applications. She completed her postdoctoral work at Harvard Medical School and University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
