ASNT appoints Dr. Parisa Shokouhi as the RNDE Editor-in-Chief -

The American Society for Nondestructive Testing Inc. (ASNT) has announced the appointment of Dr. Parisa Shokouhi as the Editor-in-Chief for Research in Nondestructive Evaluation (RNDE), effective January 1, 2021. Her appointment follows the retirement of Dr. John C. Duke whose tenure as Editor-in-Chief began in 2007. The publication of RNDE is a collaborative effort between the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board, the ASNT Research Council and RNDE Committee, and publisher Taylor & Francis Group.

Dr. Parisa Shokouhi is an associate professor of engineering science and mechanics at the Pennsylvania State University in University Park. From 2007–2014 she worked as a scientist and researcher at BAM – Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing in Berlin, Germany. In addition to authoring or coauthoring more than 80 papers, proceedings, and book chapters, she has delivered a number of talks and led multiple research projects and student advisees. Shokouhi’s research has encompassed multiple materials and methods over the years, although her current work mostly constitutes nonlinear ultrasonic testing including both experimental and modeling. She is a member of ASNT (Susquehanna Valley Section) and a 2019 recipient of the ASNT Fellowship Award.

Dr. John C. Duke was appointed as professor emeritus of engineering science and mechanics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2016. Duke is a Fellow of ASNT, where he has been a member since 1974. Within that time, Duke has received numerous accolades, including most recently the Robert C. McMaster Gold Medal (2020), Mentoring Award (2020), Research Recognition for Sustained Excellence (2018), and William F. Via Bridge NDT Lifetime Service Recognition (2018). Duke has served on a number of ASNT committees, twice been on the ASNT Board of Directors, and is currently serving as chair of the NDT Engineering Education Committee and as an associate technical editor for Materials Evaluation. Outside of ASNT, Duke is active in other professional societies, including ASME, where he is a Fellow, chaired the inaugural year of the ASME NDE Engineering Division, and served as an associate technical editor for the Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology.
