Atypon’s continued growth in 2019 featured new acquisitions, products, and international markets -

Scholarly and professional publishing platform provider Atypon signed 7 new clients, launched 7 new client websites and 2 new applications for researchers, made 2 acquisitions, extended its contracts with 10 of its long-term clients, and grew its staff by more than 5% in 2019.

Further broadening its international market presence, Atypon launched the Chinese Chemical Society in Beijing and the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Saudi Arabia. The company also signed new deals with utb GmbH, a consortium of midsize German publishers, and Informit, part of RMIT Training, Atypon’s first Australian client.

Expanding its offerings into B2C technologies, Atypon launched two new productivity tools for researchers and practitioners that add value for publishers as well. Scitrus, an AI-driven discovery app, gives users a personalized feed of the most relevant research in their field while delivering publishers precision-targeted audiences. Manuscripts, a collaborative authoring app, enables users to attach and execute the data and code behind their research and provides publisher-specific templates that automatically format submissions correctly, decreasing editorial work for publishers.

In June 2019, Atypon acquired two companies whose products will augment existing Atypon solutions: RedLink will broaden the company’s offerings for libraries with the Library Dashboard; Inera adds key capabilities for automated document cleanup, formatting, editing, and XML conversion to Atypon’s technology arsenal.

Plans for 2020 include expanding the feature set for Literatum, Atypon’s online publishing platform, to include more discovery features driven by machine learning, and new products and features that support Open Science. Atypon will also release a major upgrade of Atypon Insights, Literatum’s analytics and business intelligence module.
