Auckland Libraries – the largest library group in Australasia – has announced the availability of its new customised Auckland Libraries-branded mobile app developed in partnership with Boopsie Inc., a mobile platform-as-a-service provider for libraries worldwide. Auckland Libraries' new mobile app is available to patrons at no cost.
More than 12 million patrons of Auckland Libraries can now access the libraries' resources which include more than 100 databases and over 3.5 million items such as physical books, ebooks, and e-audio books, anytime, anywhere from any mobile device.
Auckland Libraries was formed as part of the amalgamation which established Auckland Council in November 2010. This brought together the public library systems of seven former councils, making Auckland Libraries the largest public library system in Australasia. Auckland Libraries now delivers its service through 55 community libraries from Wellsford in the north to Waiuku in the south. With the amalgamation, customers are now able to borrow and return items to any library in the network.
