Healthcare information provider Wolters Kluwer Health, US, has been selected as an Innovation Champion by Adelaide Research and Innovation (ARI), which is owned by the University of Adelaide in Adelaide, Australia, and provides logistical and financial support for research projects at the University. ARI Innovation Champions were selected for their partnerships with University of Adelaide entities on research and development activities through more effective products, processes, services, policies, technologies or ideas.
Wolters Kluwer Health was selected for its ongoing partnership with the Joanna Briggs Institute to bring their evidence-based practice resources to healthcare institutions globally. JBI produces databases, books and interactive tools to help physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals use EBP to improve patient care.
ARI announced its inaugural 10 Innovation Champions this year donating A$500 to each of the recognised institution's charity of choice. Wolters Kluwer Health selected the Hospital Research Foundation to receive its charitable award. The Foundation supports vital world-leading medical research in South Australia conducted at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH) and the Basil Hetzel Institute for Translational Health Research (BHI). Its research programmes are designed to improve treatment, prevention and potential cures for heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and other diseases and illnesses.
JBI is recognised the world over for its expertise in evidence-based practice; specifically, in synthesizing and assessing the best available medical evidence, and helping healthcare providers translate that evidence into clinical best practices that improves patient care and minimises healthcare costs. JBI's selection of evidence databases, ebooks on translational science and interactive evidence synthesis, assessment and implementation tools are available to more than 180 institutional customers - hospitals, clinics, medical schools, nursing schools - of Wolters Kluwer Health through OvidSP, and to individual healthcare providers via the Lippincott Evidence-Based Practice Network.
Other joint activities include interactive professional development programs, webinars and videos and educational sessions conducted throughout North America, Europe, South Africa, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.
