Knovel, a web-based application integrating technical information with analytical and search tools, has commented upon the findings of a new Aberdeen Group report titled 'Cost Saving Strategies for Engineering: Using Simulation to Make Better Decisions'. The study found that best-in-class companies are using tools such as simulation and access to reference materials in an effort to improve productivity and cut costs associated with product design. The Aberdeen Group report was sponsored in part by Knovel.
Specifically, the study found that in addition to using simulation technologies early in the process, best-in-class companies are 35 percent more likely than their competitors to leverage a library or database of materials properties and 30 percent more likely to provide their engineers with access to reference materials of relevant engineering principles. When armed with the right information, engineers can make even better decisions that will boost the overall profitability of the entire product.
Material selection is a critical part of early stage product design. According to Knovel, companies frequently turn to Knovel for answers during and after this critical stage. Knovel offers validated engineering content, selected from the most trusted sources and delivered to engineers quickly and with precision. More than 600 major corporations and academic institutions turn to Knovel to search the Company's validated content.
