Bibsam's agreement with DOAJ marks a milestone for open access in research -

Bibsam, representing the National Library of Sweden on behalf of the Bibsam Consortium participating organizations, has entered into an agreement with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). This collaboration is significant in the context of Sweden's commitment to achieving 100% immediate open access to all publicly funded research.

The agreement aims to facilitate research institutions in Sweden in providing crucial support to DOAJ, a widely used open infrastructure. This support is aligned with the broader goal of promoting open access publishing and reflects the Bibsam Consortium's dedication to the transformation of open access in negotiations with publishers.

The collaboration between Bibsam and DOAJ is not only a testament to the commitment of Swedish stakeholders to open access but also a recognition of DOAJ's efforts in making open access the norm. By supporting the indexing of open access journals, the agreement contributes to the EU Council's recent conclusions, which encourage investment in interoperable, not-for-profit publishing infrastructures.
