Open Access publisher BioMed Central and the Brazilian Retina and Vitreous Society have announced the launch of the International Journal of Retina and Vitreous (IJRV), the official journal of the Society. The journal will begin publishing in the second quarter of 2015.
The journal is focused on the ophthalmic subspecialty of vitreoretinal disorders and presents original articles on new approaches to diagnosis, outcomes of clinical trials, innovations in pharmacological therapy and surgical techniques, as well as basic science advances that impact clinical practice.
The Brazilian Retina and Vitreous Society has seen dramatic growth over the past two decades and currently counts nearly 900 retina specialists as members. President Gomes, who is also an associate editor for the journal, explains that the Society's goal was to develop a unique, unparalleled journal of the highest quality.
