BioMed Central extends nomination deadline for 5th Annual Research Awards -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced that the nomination deadline for its 5th Annual Research Awards has been extended by two weeks to January 14, 2011. These awards, now in their fifth year, recognise excellence in research that has been made universally accessible by open access publication.

BioMed Central's Research Awards celebrate some of the most groundbreaking open access research that was published in BioMed Central's more than 200 journals last year. The awards are open for public nomination to members of the research community. Prizes will be awarded for excellence in research from areas of biology and medicine.

The Open Data Award has returned for the second year, due to its popularity at the 4th Annual Research Awards. The award is also open to public nominations. The Open Data Award recognises researchers who have published in BioMed Central's journals and have demonstrated leadership in the sharing, standardisation, publication, or re-use of biomedical research data.
