BioMed Central publishes journal for Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology -

Open access publisher BioMed Central has commenced publishing Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology (AACI), the official journal of the Canadian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (CSACI). This follows the journal’s decision to adopt an open access format to increase its reach.

AACI aims to further the understanding and treatment of allergic and immunologic disease by providing a platform for the dissemination of research and reviews. These are expected to help elucidate normal immune mechanisms and the ways in which these mechanisms become dysfunctional. The launch articles include a discussion by Gilles et al regarding the involvement of pollen associated lipid mediators (PALMS) in the allergic response to pollen. Also featured is a review by Sonia Michail assessing the evidence surrounding the benefits of probiotic use in treating allergic disease.

The journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Richard Warrington, emphasises in the inaugural editorial, CSACI’s role as one of the oldest medical specialty societies in Canada. The Society is dedicated to the advancement of the knowledge and practice of allergy, clinical immunology and asthma, and the provision of optimal patient care, says the editorial.

Further information on the journal may be obtained at the journal website. Those wishing to submit a manuscript may view the instructions for authors.
