Open access publisher BioMed Central, US, has announced that it will be launching BMC Proceedings, a companion journal to the BMC-series, later this month. Dr. Melissa Norton will serve as Editor-in-Chief of the journal.
A peer-reviewed online journal, BMC Proceedings will publish proceedings from academic conferences, including both peer-reviewed full articles and collections of meeting abstracts. Devoted specifically to conference publications, the journal seeks to provide open access journal publication for all types of proceedings, including large collections of articles, meetings of specialised interest and conferences of a cross- or multi-disciplinary nature.
BMC Proceedings will accept a variety of conference-related content from peer-reviewed research or review articles to collections of meeting abstracts. Conferences on any topic within biology or medicine will be considered. All proceedings will be indexed in PubMed and PubMed Central.
The journal will be published online but also offers a competitive print service for production of hard copies of conference proceedings. The first content, to be published in December, will be a collection of articles from the Genetic Analysis Workshop 15: Gene Expression Analysis and Approaches to Detecting Multiple Functional Loci Proceedings held in November 2006 at St Pete's Beach, Florida.
