Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced the first thematic series from Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health. The series features four articles covering recent developments in the controversial field of pediatric psychopharmacology. The series on psychopharmacological research in paediatric populations links together topics originally presented at the joint conference of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Science and European Academy held in Berlin earlier this year.
The four articles approach the topic from various aspects. Benedetto Vitiello's review highlights recent developments in the field of pediatric pharmacology research in the US, while Philippe Auby looks at the research occurring in the field in the EU and Birka Lehmann examines the EU's new regulatory standards for pediatric pharmacology. The series is completed by Jacinta Tan and Michael Koelch, who present the ethical implications of pediatric pharmacology research and provide suggestions for improving the ethics of research in this field.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health is an open access journal that seeks to provide an international platform for rapid and comprehensive scientific communication on child and adolescent mental health across different cultural backgrounds. The journal is aimed at clinicians and researchers focused on improving the knowledge base for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of mental health conditions in children and adolescents.
