For nearly two decades, BioMed Research International (BMRI) has been an important source of information and knowledge as well as an international forum for the biomedical research community.
After careful consideration and discussions with Editors and authors in the field, Hindawi has decided to have a renewed look at the journal’s scope and adapted its Editorial Board model structure.
The journal currently has a broad remit, publishing in 55 different subject areas, with a discrete editorial board for each. These subject areas have been re-evaluated and will be categorised into 51 new Sections to filter-out submissions related to non-human biomedical science and to re-define the remit of the journal so that it provides a clearer and more focused outlet for biomedical science.
All Sections in BMRI now have Section Editors who are recognised members within their field. Their roles will involve overseeing manuscript assignment and triage to ensure submissions are within the section’s remit and renewed scope.
Any changes and improvements have been put in place with the researcher in mind. With the invaluable help of the Section Editors who have taken on the responsibility of their individual Sections and will help guide their future direction, Hindawi is able to reshape the scope and focus of the journal to add even more value to the biomedical research community.
Section Editors expertise and knowledge will help Hindawi to improve the author experience through faster decisions, faster turnaround times, and the confidence that each paper is adhering to high editorial standards and journal policies. The renewed scope of the journal will provide authors with clear guidance as they choose the right home for their next paper.
