Academic publisher Emerald Group Publishing Limited, UK, has announced that at a time when shrinking budgets require carefully considered decisions, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals have measured a positive impact on patient safety by using research published in Emerald Health Care Management collection of peer-reviewed journals. The Emerald Healthcare Management collection contains seven research journals and eight book series.
A case study, showing how the Trust's library service contributed to the development of safer care through evidence-based research, is now available on Emerald Management First. To answer queries from senior managers and requests received through the Clinical Librarian Service, the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Management Librarian relied on research evidence, including literature published in Emerald Healthcare Management titles. Under the skilled filtering and consideration of the librarian, selected articles were put forward to provide evidence of best practice and support the design and adoption of clinical pathways for all services.
