Blockchain in Healthcare Today journal appoints Dr. John D. Halamka as Editor-in-Chief -

The online, peer-review journal Blockchain in Healthcare Today has announced the appointment of Dr. John D. Halamka as Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Halamka is the International Healthcare Innovation Professor at Harvard Medical School, Chief Information Officer of the Beth Israel Deaconess System, and a practicing emergency physician. He strives to improve healthcare quality, safety, and efficiency for patients, providers, and payers throughout the world using information technology.

Previously, Dr. Halamka was CEO of MA-SHARE (the Regional Health Information Organization), and Chair of the US Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP). He is the author of five books on technology-related issues, hundreds of articles, and thousands of posts on the popular Geekdoctor blog.

Dr. Halamka completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in the Department of Emergency Medicine. While at Harbor-UCLA, he was instrumental in creating an online medical record, a quality control system, and several systems for medical education. At present, Dr. Halamka continues to integrate his knowledge of medicine and technology, focusing using the Internet to exchange clinical patient data. His research includes security / confidentiality issues, scalability issues, and implementation of standards for exchange of administrative and clinical information. In addition, he runs the organic Unity Farm, in Sherborn, Massachusetts, overseeing 30 acres of agriculture, animals, and cider/mead making.

Blockchain in Healthcare Today (BHTY) is an open access online peer review journal where collaborative efforts of thought leaders and innovators converge to find solutions in a dynamic blockchain health technology sector.
