Professor Yu-Chuan (Jack) Li, a researcher of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine and medical informatics, and a practicing dermatologist, has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Health & Care Informatics, one of more than 70 specialist journals published by BMJ.
Professor Li, who succeeds Dr Philip Scott as Editor in Chief, is currently Dean and distinguished professor at the College of Medical Science and Technology, Taipei Medical University and the Chief of Dermatology at the Centre for Cosmetic and Laser, Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital.
He has worked on many national and international projects related to translational biomedical informatics, with the aim of developing the next generation of medical Al for patient safety and disease prevention.
Professor Li has also served as President of the Asia-Pacific Association for Medical Informatics (APAMI), and President-elect of International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). He was elected as a fellow of the Australian College of Health Informatics and the American College of Medical Informatics in 2010, and was most recently elected as a fellow of the International Academy of Health Science Informatics.
