BMJ expands open access reach with new read and publish agreements in 2024 -

BMJ, a leading global provider of healthcare knowledge, kicks off the new year with a series of groundbreaking Read and Publish (R&P) agreements, further bolstering its commitment to open access (OA) initiatives worldwide. These strategic partnerships represent significant strides towards enhancing access to cutting-edge research and facilitating knowledge dissemination for the global research community.

The unveiling of multiple new Read & Publish agreements underscores BMJ's dedication to fostering greater accessibility and collaboration within the scholarly community. Among the notable partnerships announced are:

· Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries (CSAL), Switzerland: BMJ's transformative R&P agreement with the esteemed CSAL Consortium encompasses the Standard Collection journals for 2024, extending the reach of critical research within Switzerland's scholarly community.

· Turku University, Finland: This collaboration marks BMJ's first R&P Agreement in Scandinavia, focusing on hybrid journals for 2024. By partnering with Turku University, BMJ opens new avenues for sharing and accessing cutting-edge research in the Scandinavian academic sphere.

· University of Sydney, Australia: BMJ's inaugural R&P Agreement in Australia, in collaboration with the prestigious University of Sydney, focuses on BMJ's Standard Collection journals for 2024, strengthening the dissemination of knowledge in the Australian academic landscape.

Furthermore, BMJ's open access initiatives have expanded across the United States with new agreements secured with Rowan University and Vanderbilt University. Spanning BMJ's hybrid and Gold OA journals for 2024, these partnerships underscore BMJ's commitment to fostering academic collaboration and advancing knowledge access in the US.

Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, BMJ reaffirms its dedication to scientific advancement by renewing all existing Read and Publish deals, including those with JISC (UK), BSB (Germany), Bibsam (Sweden), and Ireland (IReL), thus continuing to champion open access principles.
