Medical publisher the BMJ Group, UK, has announced the appointment of Janet O'Flaherty and Julie Solomon as Publishers of the Group's specialist journals portfolio. Janet has worked at the BMJ Group since 1997 as Managing Editor on a range of specialist titles and Julie Solomon joins the company from Nature Publishing Group where she was Assistant Publisher for the clinical division.
In their new position, both Flaherty and Solomon will have responsibility for the management and development of the BMJ Group's portfolio of 24 specialist journals with an emphasis on building the list through brand extensions, launches, acquisitions and society partnerships.
The commercial division of the British Medical Association, the BMJ Group publishes and distributes leading journals covering all major medical specialties and clinical evidence. The Group's flagship journal, British Medical Journal (BMJ), is rated as one of the world's top five general medical journals. About 1.2 million people download 6.5 million pages a month from bmj.com and more than 100,000 doctors in the UK and 14,800 internationally receive the weekly print BMJ.
