Rev’d Professor Bryony Dean Franklin and Professor Eric Thomas have been appointed as the new Co-Editors-in-Chief of BMJ Quality & Safety, one of more than 70 specialist journals published by BMJ and the top-ranked title in its field. Professors Franklin and Thomas succeed Dr Kaveh Shojania and Professor Mary Dixon-Woods, who have been joint Editors-in-Chief since 2011. The new Editors-in-Chief will take up their posts this month.
Professor Franklin is currently Director of the Centre for Medication Safety and Service Quality (CMSSQ), a joint research unit between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where she is also Executive Lead Pharmacist for Research, and UCL School of Pharmacy, where she is Professor of Medication Safety.
Professor Franklin has been a Senior Editor of BMJ Quality & Safety since 2018.
Eric Thomas is Professor of Medicine at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), and Director of the UTHealth-Memorial Hermann Center for Healthcare Quality and Safety. He is also Associate Dean for Healthcare Quality in the Department of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School.
Professor Thomas has been on the Editorial Advisory Board of BMJ Quality & Safety since 2019.
