Bookbuilders of Boston announces new awards event to honour excellence in the new publishing and information economy -

Bookbuilders of Boston, a non-profit professional group that serves the needs of New Englanders working in the publishing industry, has announced a new awards event to honour excellence in the new publishing and information economy.

Based on an embrace of disruption and the need to transform the traditional value chain of content creation, the New England Publishing Collaboration (NEPCo) Awards showcase results achieved by two or more organisations working as partners. From ten finalists, NEPCo judges will select three winning collaboration projects. A live audience vote will also be included in the results.

The ten finalists will describe their projects live on stage in rapid-fire multimedia presentations. Entries will be accepted from either partner organisation (outside nomination NOT required). One or both entrants should have an organisational presence in New England to be eligible.

NEPCo takes place on October 21, 2014, and begins at 6:00 pm at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, MA. The call for entries is open, submission deadline is August 15, 2014.

NEPCo judges include: October Ivins (Ivins eContent Solutions), Eduardo Moura (Jones & Bartlett Learning), and Alen Yen (iFactory). Judith Rosen of Publishers Weekly will serve as an alternate judge to avoid any conflicts of interest between judges and contestants.

Boston is a recognized hub for educational technology startups, as well as the home of several major educational publishers, making it an ideal venue for such an event. Proximity to a vibrant academic community, as well as a culture of mission-driven publishers, further increases the ability of Bookbuilders of Boston to interpret and celebrate a groundswell of industry collaboration.
