Bookbuilders of Boston is accepting entries for the second annual New England Publishing Collaboration (NEPCo) Awards event, which honours excellence in publishing collaboration. NEPCo showcases results achieved by two or more organisations working as partners for mutual benefit in the industry.
Guidelines for entry are: one or more of the collaborating organisations must have a New England business presence; outside nomination is NOT required, self-entry is encouraged; and enter online at http://www.nepcoawards.com/enter.html by October 2, 2015.
Finalists will be selected by the judging panel comprising Amy Brand, Director, The MIT Press; Sanj Kharbanda, Senior Vice President, Digital Markets, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt; Sanders Kleinfeld, Director of Publishing Technology, O’Reilly Media; and Amit Shah, Executive Managing Director, Six Red Marbles.
Finalists will describe their projects live on stage in rapid-fire multimedia presentations. Live judging will follow—including an audience vote—to determine the winners.
Early entries include American Meteorological Society (collaborating with Second Nature); Aries Systems (collaborating with Copyright Clearance Center); Black Key Press (collaborating with 20+ New England journals); Jones & Bartlett (collaborating with ExcelSoft and Blackboard); and Kudos (collaborating with several publishers, including Emerald Group and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery).
NEPCo is scheduled for November 10, 2015, and begins at 6:00 pm at the Central Square Theater, 450 Massachusetts Avenue, in Cambridge, MA. Special guest Ian Condry, author of The Soul of Anime, will speak at the event: Professor Condry's book describes the role of cross-industry collaboration in the success of anime.
