Bose Institute becomes India's first research institute to choose Thomson Scientific's Century of Science -

Information solutions provider Thomson Scientific, part of Thomson Corporation, US, has announced that Century of Science has been purchased by Bose Institute, one of the oldest full-time research institutes in India. Century of Science expands Web of Science with important scientific bibliographic and cited reference data covering the period from 1900 to 1944.

Web of Science is a carefully selected and maintained collection of the world's most influential journals across all disciplines. Coverage is multidisciplinary with emphasis on quality and superior collection development and can be accessed via ISI Web of Knowledge, a premier research platform that offers an extensive collection of backfiles to 1945. Launched in January 2005, the Century of Science initiative made available nearly 850,000 articles from over 200 journals carefully selected from the published research in the first half of the 20th century.

The Bose Institute has evolved over the years into a multi-disciplinary research organisation with stress on fundamental research in its pursuit of advancement of knowledge in Science and technology. The institute is one of the few multi-disciplinary institutions in the country that has succeeded in developing a vast intellectual resource in areas ranging from astrophysics, radiation physics, quantum mechanics to the frontline areas of contemporary biology such as bioinformatics & computational biology, structure and functional dynamics of biomolecules, drug modeling, molecular genetics of microbes, and development of transgenic plants.
