Bibliographic information provider Bowker, US, has announced the introduction of a new data warehouse module for its PubTrack business intelligence service for the publishing industry.
The new module is seen to be a breakthrough for small and medium-sized publishers as it levels the playing field with respect to the ability to analyse internal sales data and identify important trends. Previously, sophisticated sales data analysis tools were only available to large publishers with more extensive financial and technology resources than their smaller competitors.
The new module works by aggregating all of the internal sales data from throughout the supply chain and a publisher's various sales channels. It is available in three offerings - a fully hosted solution for customers who prefer that Bowker manage their sales data behind secure data firewalls; a mirrored solution for publishers who would rather maintain their data in-house and provide updates to the Bowker tools; and a custom installed solution for publishers who prefer to license the PubTrack software and maintain the data warehouse at their own sites. Additionally, the module provides 'ad-hoc queries' capabilities to create custom views and dashboards.
PubTrack is Bowker's business intelligence service for publishers operating on an Oracle / Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition infrastructure. It seeks to serve the higher education and Canadian markets with accurate, reliable and actionable data that is delivered in formats that allow executives to put it to work immediately for their companies.
