Brill set to launch Chinese version of corporate website at Beijing Book Fair -

Scholarly publisher Brill is set to launch a Chinese version of their corporate website – brill.com/cn – at the Beijing Book Fair. Now available in Simplified Chinese, the website allows Brill to better serve the Chinese-speaking research and academic library communities.

Users can choose between the English and Chinese version of brill.com by using the flag icons on the upper-right-hand corner of the site. In addition, the website is designed with language detection on a browser and IP range level. That means users are automatically served Chinese pages when accessing the site from China, or from a browser with Chinese as the default language setting.

The site also offers dedicated Chinese versions of each of the main publishing programs within Brill, and an overview of the latest publications from Brill’s full English-language product catalogue.

This enhancement takes the existing Chinese-language pages on brill.com to the next level. These pages provided Chinese introductions to journals and books related to Chinese studies, whereas brill.com/cn expands coverage to highlighted publications in all key subject areas, provides guidelines for international publishing with Brill in addition to resources for potential authors, scholars, librarians, and trade partners.

The new website supports Brill’s strategy to expand publishing and library relationships in Chinese-speaking regions. Since catering to these key stakeholders is what led the design of Brill’s English-language homepage brill.com, the natural solution was to make key aspects of the homepage also available in Chinese.
