In a bid to assess the progress and challenges in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the global scholarly publishing sector, the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC) conducted its second Workplace Equity Survey (WE Survey) in 2023, five years after the inaugural survey.
This week, C4DISC unveiled the eagerly awaited Workplace Equity in Scholarly Communications 2023 Executive Summary, providing a comprehensive overview of the 2023 survey findings. The report encompasses the analysis of data collected from 1,755 respondents spanning six continents, marking a significant increase of 48% compared to the 2018 survey.
The Executive Summary offers invaluable insights into the current landscape of DEI practices within the scholarly publishing industry, highlighting both areas of progress and persistent challenges. By delving into the survey responses and free-form comments, C4DISC aims to catalyze discussions and actions aimed at fostering a more inclusive and equitable workplace environment across the sector.
