Life sciences publisher CABI, UK, has announced that as a member of the Global Biological Resource Centre Network (GBRCN), it will support the proposal for a research infrastructure to improve access to high-quality microbial resources and bring together European microbial resource collections and their stakeholders - users, policy-makers, and potential funders.
A bid to create the Microbial Resources Research Infrastructure (MIRRI) has been submitted to the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) by GBRCN, EMbaRC (European Consortium for Microbial Resource Centres) and ECCO (European Culture Collection Organization). A decision will be made by end of September 2010.
If the proposal is accepted, MIRRI will deliver a co-ordinated approach to coverage of organisms, the expertise to handle them and the delivery of mechanisms to ensure implementation of best practice in the provision of the resources and services.
