The LIBER Annual Conference, a premier event for research libraries, has officially opened its Call for Proposals for the 53rd edition scheduled to take place in 2024. With the theme, 'State-of-the-art libraries in the service of science and society,' the conference aims to explore the evolving role of research libraries in addressing global challenges and staying at the forefront of societal and technological advancements.
The LIBER 2024 Annual Conference invites submissions that contribute to the overarching theme and focuses on various critical topics, including the use of Artificial Intelligence in research libraries, fostering diversity and equity, evaluating the impact of Open Science, and innovating library spaces. The conference also encourages discussions on leadership, responsibility in measurements and rankings, community ownership of scholarly communication, and platforms for interaction with society.
The LIBER 2024 Conference welcomes submissions in various formats, including: Presentations: Mature works showcasing research, best practices, and case studies, initiating discussions on the conference theme and topics; Posters: Visually inspiring displays of completed or ongoing initiatives, processes, and results; and Panel Sessions: Lively sessions featuring 3-4 brief and engaging presentations related to the conference theme, encouraging discussions among panelists and the audience.
The Conference Programme Committee may, in some cases, suggest an alternative format for accepted abstracts, ensuring the best fit within the program, with consultation with the author.
The Conference Programme Committee will evaluate abstracts based on originality/innovation; method/elaboration; interest/engagement; impact/implication; and relevance.
To submit an abstract, interested speakers can visit the LIBER 2024 submissions portal. The deadline for abstract submissions is January 12, 2024. Panel and workshop proposals can also be submitted through the same portal.
The outcomes of the peer review process are expected to be announced in early March 2024. Authors are also encouraged to submit their accepted abstracts for publication in LIBER Quarterly, a fully peer-reviewed journal, offering an additional avenue for sharing insights and contributing to the scholarly community.
