LIBER has opened the call for proposals for the 55th Annual Conference, scheduled for 2026 in Trondheim, Norway, under the theme ‘The Power of Libraries in an Uncertain World’. The event will focus on how research libraries navigate ethical, technological, and social challenges while safeguarding knowledge and fundamental values.
Submissions are invited on topics including research data and knowledge security, collection development, working conditions in libraries, digital content and AI, leadership for sustainability, shifts in research assessment, and academic freedom and access to knowledge. Eligible formats include presentations, posters, panels, and workshops, with abstracts between 300 and 600 words. Each submission will be reviewed for relevance, originality, methodology, and potential impact.
The Conference Programme Committee encourages original contributions and requires authors to disclose any use of AI-assisted tools limited to language support. Reviewers will not use AI systems in the evaluation process. Accepted works will be considered for the LIBER Innovation Award and publication in LIBER Quarterly.
The submission deadline is January 5, 2026, with acceptance notifications expected in March. The conference aims to highlight forward-looking practices that demonstrate leadership and resilience within the research library community.
