Call for proposals open for 47th Annual Meeting on Scholarly Publishing future -

The 47th Annual Meeting of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), themed “Reimagining the Future of Scholarly Publishing at the Intersection of Value and Values,” will take place from May 28-30, 2025, at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. SSP has officially opened the call for proposals for Educational Sessions, Industry Breakouts, Posters, and 5-minute Industry Previews.

The 2025 event arrives amid a rapidly evolving scholarly publishing landscape. As the pace of change accelerates, challenges such as maintaining the scholarly record, managing the impact of AI, and meeting the diverse needs of the global research community are coming to the forefront. Attendees will explore how to harmonize their values with the value-driven objectives of the industry and seek ways to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Key discussion points will include the role of open access in 2025, the implications of an AI-augmented scholarly publishing ecosystem, and the urgent need to rebuild trust in research. The meeting is an open forum for academics, librarians, publishers, technologists, and researchers to explore new ideas, share real-world examples, and build a brighter future for scholarly publishing.

The deadline for Educational Session proposals is November 4, 2024, followed by January 6, 2025, for Industry Breakouts. Posters and 5-minute Industry Previews have a submission deadline of February 14, 2025. More information, including submission guidelines, can be found on the SSP website.

Attendees can also access recordings and virtual sessions post-event. Industry partners interested in showcasing their organizations at the event can contact SSP for exhibition and sponsorship opportunities.
