Call to publishers: Jisc digital archival collections group purchasing scheme PIN notice -

Jisc is working in collaboration with publishers to make digital archival collections of primary source materials more affordable so researchers, teachers and learners can have access to a wider range of resources and libraries can achieve further efficiencies. They are currently running phase two of the Digital Archival collections group purchasing pilot from November 2017 to July 2018 with 4 publishers, to be followed by a framework agreement that will open up the buying model to a wider selection of publishers.

The group purchasing model operates on two principles: the more products collectively purchased from a publisher, the more institutions equally benefit from discounts off list prices no matter what Jisc band they belong to (for example, if a band 1 and band 7 institutions made a purchase, they would receive the same percent discount off the list price); and the purchasing model runs on a yearly basis, allowing institutions to benefit from the maximum discount reached by the end of each academic year.

Jisc will launch four digital archival collections within the next few weeks. Interested publishers can register through the recently launched PIN notice available on TED (tenders electronic daily), by the end of May 2018.
