Canadian Journal of Forest Research and its publisher, Canadian Science Publishing, has announced the appointment of Dr. Lisa Venier as Co-Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Venier will work alongside Co-Editor-in-Chief Dr. Sylvie Gauthier and the editorial board. Dr. Venier succeeds Dr. S. Ellen Macdonald, who is moving into a Consulting Editor role after leading the journal for five years.
Dr. Venier is a senior research scientist with the Canadian Forest Service of Natural Resources Canada. Her research examines what biodiversity can tell us about the sustainability of forest management and forest integrity. She works at scales from local to provincial and national and on biodiversity from the microbiome to vertebrates. She strives to generate knowledge and tools that can be applied to policy development and decision making within a forest management context.
Throughout her career at the Canadian Forest Service, Dr. Venier has been involved in a multitude of projects, including implementing dynamic models in decision support systems, modelling risk for exotic species in forest contexts, and investigating applications of wood ash through the AshNet program. Dr. Venier recently served as acting Co-Editor-in-Chief for CJFR and has been an active Associate Editor at the journal for 16 years.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Venier to this new role. We know that she can count on your ongoing support as we work together to further advance the Canadian Journal of Forest Research and support the forest research community.
