Canadian Science Publishing launches Freshwater Policy and Practice Journal -

Canadian Science Publishing (CSP) has announced the upcoming launch of Freshwater Policy and Practice, an open‑access journal scheduled to begin accepting submissions in May 2026.

The journal is designed to provide a dedicated venue for research addressing challenges facing global freshwater systems, which are under increasing pressure from climate change, human activity, and shifting socio‑ecological dynamics. Its scope includes science, policy, technology, and community knowledge, with the aim of supporting resilient and sustainable freshwater futures.

Freshwater Policy and Practice will publish research articles, policy analyses, practice insights, and community perspectives that connect scientific evidence to decision‑making and practical action.

Co‑Editor‑in‑Chief Dr. Irena Creed, Professor in the Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto, explained that the journal would focus on identifying and sharing actionable, evidence‑based solutions to advance water sustainability and resilience. She described the vision as creating a central platform where practical approaches can be showcased and shared across the community.

Co‑Editor‑in‑Chief Dr. Steven Cooke, Canada Research Professor at Carleton University and founder of the Canadian Centre for Evidence‑Informed Conservation, emphasized that the journal would support practitioners and policymakers worldwide in addressing complex freshwater ecosystem challenges. He noted that it would also serve as a focal point for building a community of practice among professionals working on solutions.

The journal will open for submissions in May 2026, with opportunities for researchers to contribute as authors, reviewers, or editorial board members.
