CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society specializing in scientific knowledge management, has announced the launch of CAS IP Finder, powered by STN™. The intellectual property search solution builds on CAS STNext®, a scientific IP information platform used for expert-level precision searches across scientific and patent databases. The solution is scheduled for release in fall 2025, with further capabilities planned.
CAS STNext provides intellectual property professionals with access to global databases, scientist-curated content, and patent information, supported by precision search and analysis tools. CAS IP Finder adds AI-enhanced features and expanded content to make precision search more accessible for a wider range of users. The solution was developed to address evolving organizational search needs in intellectual property, aiming to accelerate insight generation, lower risk, and support decision-making.
Rising patent volume, the growing interconnectedness of scientific disciplines, and increasingly complex subject matter have made patent research more difficult. Historically, intellectual property professionals faced a trade-off between comprehensive systems and ease of use, leading to risks such as missed prior art, legal disputes, and investment in unpatentable technologies. CAS IP Finder removes this compromise by offering access to extensive content and precise search tools through more user-friendly interfaces.
CAS IP Finder introduces capabilities intended to improve intellectual property search and analysis:
These enhancements are designed to support IP specialists, patent attorneys, business strategists, and R&D leaders by making precision search more intuitive and broadly accessible. CAS stated that the tool addresses the growing complexity and global reach of patent and scientific data by providing a comprehensive view of the intellectual property landscape and enabling high-quality insights.
