Catherine Berdanier, professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State, has been appointed Co‑Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Engineering Education (JEE), the peer‑reviewed international journal of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Her four‑year term will begin on January 1, 2028, alongside James Huff of the University of Georgia, whose term starts January 1, 2027. Both were selected by a search committee appointed by the ASEE Board and chaired by CEO Brian Novoselich.
Published quarterly, JEE features scholarly research in engineering education and contributes to the development of knowledge aimed at improving engineering education globally.
Berdanier joined the JEE editorial board in 2021 as an assistant editor and advanced through roles as associate editor, senior associate editor, and deputy editor. She also served on the journal’s subcommittee on artificial intelligence usage guidelines and is a member of ASEE’s Committee on Scholarly Publications.
At Penn State, Berdanier directs the Engineering Cognitive Research Laboratory, where her research examines how individuals think, learn, and make decisions in engineering contexts.
In her role as Co‑Editor-in Chief, Berdanier will contribute to leading the journal’s editorial operations and supporting its continued development as a source of research and scholarship in engineering education.
