Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has expanded its RightsLink for Scientific Communications (RLSC) solution to include localized payment capabilities for authors in China through integration with the SocoPay payment system developed by the China Educational Publications Import & Export Corporation (CEPIEC).
The collaboration enhances CCC’s open access (OA) publishing workflow solution, RightsLink for Scientific Communications (RLSC), by enabling authors to pay article publishing charges (APCs) directly in Chinese yuan using widely used platforms such as WeChat and Alipay.
RLSC is a comprehensive automation platform that supports publishers, funders, consortia, institutions, and authors in managing open access agreements, processing APCs, and facilitating Subscribe to Open (S2O) programs. The system accommodates both individual payments and institutional funding models, offering flexibility and transparency throughout the publication process.
By incorporating CEPIEC’s SocoPay system, CCC strengthens its ability to manage publisher billing and payments efficiently on a global scale while ensuring a user experience tailored to regional preferences. The enhancement represents another step in CCC’s broader strategy to simplify open access workflows and expand accessibility for researchers worldwide.
Through this partnership, CCC intends to strengthen its OA infrastructure and promote smoother global participation in research publishing.
