CCC, a US-based organization focused on copyright and licensing, has been selected as a winner in the 2025 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards for its work on the Annual Copyright License (ACL). The ACL provides enterprise-level licensing for internal use of legally obtained copyrighted materials within AI systems and facilitates rights clearance for using such materials in conjunction with AI technologies. The license framework aggregates internal-use AI rights from a wide spectrum of rightsholders into a unified offering.
The Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards, administered by the Business Intelligence Group, recognize entities that demonstrate measurable innovation and practical application in AI. Selections are made by an independent panel assessing criteria such as creativity, utility, and overall impact.
The award highlights CCC’s development of opt-in licensing solutions designed to address the intersection of copyright and artificial intelligence. The approach is positioned within broader industry efforts to establish a functioning AI rights licensing environment in response to growing demand for lawful reuse of copyrighted materials in machine learning and generative systems.
CCC also supports international copyright engagement through policy dialogue, education, and the dissemination of informational materials. Its online platform, AI, Copyright & Licensing, provides curated resources for stakeholders including creators, publishers, technologists, legal professionals, and policymakers.
