Copyright Clearance Center will host a panel discussion titled 'Licensing Accelerates Responsible AI: Seizing Opportunities in Uncertain Times' at the Frankfurt Book Fair on October 16. The session, scheduled in the Frankfurt Studio, will examine the role of licensing within responsible AI frameworks and explore the interaction between AI developers, users, and publishers.
The panel will feature speakers from publishing and rights management, including Michael Ellis of Newstex, Catriona Stevenson of the Publishers Association, and Mark Walford of Sage, with CCC’s Roy Kaufman as moderator.
Alongside the discussion, CCC will highlight its AI Systems Training License, a voluntary, non-exclusive collective license enabling organizations to use lawfully acquired works for training AI systems intended for external applications. The license offers standardized terms, reducing the burden of individual negotiations, and is designed to support compliant AI development.
In addition, CCC has extended its licensing coverage to include AI rights for internal use through its Annual Copyright License, offering businesses a framework to integrate copyrighted content into AI workflows. The organization continues to engage stakeholders globally through advocacy, resources, and educational programs, while maintaining a dedicated hub on AI, copyright, and licensing.
At this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, CCC will also participate in sessions focused on diversity and representation in publishing, including a PublisHer-hosted panel on October 15.
