CCC, a leading organization in advancing copyright, accelerating knowledge, and powering innovation, is set to host a virtual Town Hall discussion on May 10 at 11:00 a.m. EDT, where a panel of industry experts will share best practices for developing research data that is FAIR through culture, training, and technology. The discussion will take place via LinkedIn Live and aims to help attendees identify signals of improvement and create breakthrough interoperability across research domains.
The panel will consist of VIP speakers, including Christine Kirkpatrick, Founder of GO FAIR US; Barend Mons, President of CODATA; and Erik Schultes, FAIR Implementation Lead of the GO FAIR Foundation. They will discuss the FAIR Data Principles, which are guiding principles set forth by a consortium of scientists and organizations to support the reusability of digital assets. The principles emphasize machine-actionability and are essential for effective use of AI and managing the increasing volume and complexity of data.
Tracey Armstrong, President and CEO of CCC, stated that recent mandates by funders and governments call for sharing all research data, and the FAIR data principles are crucial for achieving this goal. Armstrong said, "FAIR data principles emphasize machine-actionability and are essential for effective use of AI and managing the increasing volume and complexity of data.”
CCC has recently hosted virtual Town Hall discussions on "ChatGPT and Information Integrity," "Data Directions," and "What's Ahead for Librarians and Researchers." The upcoming discussion on FAIR research data aims to support researchers and institutions in navigating the evolving landscape of data sharing and interoperability.
