Cengage Learning, a global educational content, technology and services company for the higher education and K-12, professional and library markets, has announced that its Health Care Career Exploration Learning Lab has received the 2014 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Award for Best Use of Video to Support Student Learning. The CODiE awards remain the only peer-recognised program in the content, education and software industries and indicate market validation for innovation, vision and overall industry impact.
An SIIA CODiE Award win for educational technology companies is an especially prestigious honour, as each award winner has been selected by a combination of educators and SIIA member-company peers. The Best Use of Video to Support Student Learning category recognises the best video tools specifically designed for PK-12 or postsecondary educational settings.
Health Care Career Exploration Learning Lab is an online tool that allows learners to explore a range of healthcare careers by interacting with a dramatic movie depicting the rescue, recovery and rehabilitation of a car crash victim. The tool allows students learn about the healthcare professionals who provide care to patients, from the car crash scene through the emergency and operating rooms, intensive care unit, medical surgical floor, and even into rehab and home care settings. Students can build a personalised library of interesting careers as they interact with the movie and characters, which they can share with an instructor.
