Teaching, learning and research solutions provider Cengage Learning, US, has announced that its Course360 Custom Course Solutions in IMS Common Cartridge v1.0 has been named a gold medalist in the 2011 Learning Impact Awards. Course360 is a set of comprehensive and customisable online courses that utilise best practices in online instructional design to create effective online or blended course experiences for students. It is part of Cengage Learning's CengageCourse suite of integrated digital solutions and services aimed at improving student engagement and learning outcomes.
Delivered through the open standard of Common Cartridge v 1.0, Course360 offers greater availability in a variety of Learning Management Systems including those that may have been previously underserved by publishers. Through delivery using the Common Cartridge standard, Course360 course materials can be easily rearranged with other source materials to create a pedagogy that fits the needs of individual instructors or the learning programme.
The Learning Impact Awards are designed to recognise the most impactful use of technology worldwide in support of learning. Entries are judged on accountability, interoperability, innovation, affordability and quality. This unique programme is made possible by the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS) for the purpose of recognising outstanding applications of technology that address the most significant challenges facing the education and training industries.
