Censorship not obstacle to its Middle East growth, says Google -

Internet search services provider Google Inc. has reportedly said that it is not hindered in the Middle East by government-backed censorship as it seeks to ride growing opportunities in the region.

According to a Bloomberg report, Google is seeking to expand in the Middle East, where it estimates that less than 15 percent of the residents go online. In January, the company went public with a dispute in China. It had then stated that it was no longer willing to comply with filtering regulations.

Earlier this month, the Chinese government renewed Google's Internet license after the company's local venture pledged to allow its Web content to be supervised by regulators. China's decision to allow Google to continue operations resolved a lengthy dispute that had threatened the company's future in the country.
