The American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) announced that CHEST Critical Care has been accepted for inclusion in the Web of Science Core Collection through the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). CHEST stated that indexing in Web of Science represents a milestone for the journal and strengthens its visibility and discoverability for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare teams worldwide.
With the indexation, CHEST Critical Care is expected to receive its first Impact Factor for 2025 in mid-2026.
CHEST described the Web of Science Core Collection as a widely recognized platform for scholarly research discovery and citation tracking. The organization stated that inclusion in ESCI increases access to research published in CHEST Critical Care and supports the journal’s stated commitment to advancing the science and practice of critical care medicine.
CHEST added that the journal’s inclusion in Web of Science follows other indexing progress. In April 2025, CHEST Critical Care was indexed in Scopus, which was described as one of the world’s largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature.
CHEST Critical Care was described as a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research, reviews, and clinical insights across the spectrum of critical care and acute care medicine.
