The Institute of Automation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences has introduced Data Research and Applications (DRA), an international academic journal dedicated to the open sharing of scientific research data.
The institute explained that data journals play an important role in promoting open data sharing, improving governance, and supporting new paradigms in scientific research. It noted that the new journal is intended to provide an interdisciplinary, open access, peer‑reviewed platform for academic exchange among researchers worldwide.
The journal includes six sections: data papers, model papers, research papers, reviews, data and model updates, and news opinions and comments. Its scope covers multiple disciplines such as computer science, mathematics, statistics, and medicine, addressing the full lifecycle of research output from generation to publication and iterative updates.
According to the institute, Data Research and Applications is designed to establish a complete chain linking data, research, application, and governance, with the goal of promoting global open sharing of high‑quality data resources.
The inaugural editorial board brings together experts from more than 20 universities and research institutions worldwide, reflecting the journal’s international orientation and commitment to advancing open data practices.
