The National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Taylor & Francis have announced the creation of an Advisory Committee to strengthen the work of the Research Integrity Joint Laboratory (Joint Lab).
Established in December 2023, the Joint Lab focuses on addressing challenges in research integrity and fostering trust in scholarly publishing through improved governance systems and practice‑based research.
The newly formed Advisory Committee includes experts in research integrity studies, representatives from research authorities, researchers, and professionals from the publishing sector. This multi‑stakeholder structure reflects a collaborative approach to governance.
The Committee will examine key issues related to research integrity, including emerging risks in research and publishing both within China and internationally. Its work will support initiatives in institutional design, governance mechanisms, and implementation strategies. The Committee aims to produce consensus‑based outcomes and practical guidelines to inform policy and guide best practices across the sector.
In addition, the Committee will contribute to the development of international standards, strengthen governance capacity, and encourage global exchange and cooperation in research integrity governance.
Jason Hu, Director of Research Integrity Engagement at Taylor & Francis, noted that a recent survey of Chinese researchers indicated that understanding and adherence to ethical practices required significant improvement. He emphasized that the Joint Lab has an important role in supporting the academic community in prioritizing integrity and trust in research and publishing. Hu added that the Advisory Committee brings together expertise from diverse fields to advance this work and expressed appreciation for the colleagues who joined the initiative.
