Cindy Hohl, a renowned advocate for diversity and equity in librarianship, will deliver the opening keynote at the NISO Plus 2025 conference in Baltimore. The keynote is scheduled for February 11, at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Hohl is the director of policy analysis and operational support at the Kansas City Public Library and the 2024–2025 president of the American Library Association (ALA). With extensive leadership experience, she has also served as president of the American Indian Library Association and is a board member of the Freedom to Read Foundation. Internationally, she contributes to the Standing Committee of the Indigenous Matters Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA).
A member of the Santee Sioux Nation and a former ALA Spectrum Scholar, Hohl is dedicated to increasing diversity within the library profession. Through mentorship, recruitment, and advocacy, she strives to create opportunities for underrepresented communities. Her work focuses on leadership, Indigenous Knowledge systems, decolonizing classification standards, equity in data and information, and preserving tribal oral storytelling traditions.
Hohl is also a vocal supporter of librarians navigating book challenges and censorship, championing the core tenets of librarianship to uphold equal access to information.
The NISO Plus 2025 conference will be held from February 10 to 12 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. It will bring together information professionals, librarians, publishers, and technologists to discuss innovations and challenges in the information ecosystem.
