Clarivate Plc, a global leader in providing transformative intelligence, has announced the appointment of Matti Shem Tov as the company's next Chief Executive Officer, effective August 9, 2024. Mr. Shem Tov, who brings over three decades of leadership experience in software, data, and analytics, will also join Clarivate's Board of Directors.
Jonathan Gear, the current CEO, will step down from his role and relinquish his position on the Board. He will transition into a non-executive role until November 1, 2024, ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
The selection of Mr. Shem Tov as CEO followed a comprehensive search process conducted by Clarivate’s Board of Directors, with assistance from the global executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles. The appointment is seen as a strategic move by Clarivate to continue its trajectory of innovation and growth in the global market for data-driven insights.
Matti Shem Tov is widely recognized for his expertise in steering global organizations toward growth and innovation. Before joining Clarivate, he was an operating partner at Lone View Capital, a private equity firm, from June 2022 to March 2024. He also served as CEO of ProQuest LLC from September 2017 to June 2022, where he played a pivotal role in the company's development, including its integration into Clarivate following its acquisition in December 2021.
